When Matt and I moved into our home, I immediately needed to personalize it. Our family painted, I decorated, and my mom cleaned. But it all came together, and it's a home we call our own. Take a look at some before-and-after pictures.
The previous owners had freshly painted - but in a dark yellow hue that did not feel homey or cozy. We covered it with a light gray shade. What do you think?
We decided on cream furniture so it would go with any color walls we painted (which may have been a mistake considering the golden retriever...). I wanted to bring in a few pops of color, so I used lamps, decor, wall hangings, and pillows. Never underestimate the power of a throw pillow. It can make any room livelier. And who can resist a teal chevron print?
Everything we found was on clearance. The furniture, the decor, everything. For months, I scoured the shelves of Target and Home Goods. I frequented the consignment shop in Downtown Waukesha. I wanted personality - and was on a budget - but I was able to make our home perfectly ours.
